Red Steel 2 Review!

What Is It?
Scrapping everything from the original and starting fresh, Red Steel 2 capitalizes on the WiiMotion Plus and brings a beautiful art style and offers an efficient combination of sword and gun battles on the Wii and won't disappoint those who try it.

Review
You play as an unnamed hero, also the last of the Kusagari Clan. The game starts off with with a very impressive cut-scene where your hero is being dragged behind a motorcycle in a desert. Once the cut-scene is over, you make your way to Jian, who goes through the basic tutorials with you and as the game progresses, you unlock special abilities like 'The Bear' as well as others. You come across other NPC that help you along your adventure, Judd, Tamiko, and Songan.  You find out early on that a group called the Jackels, led by Shinjiro, have wiped-out your clan and are after your sword
The gameplay is fairly straightforward. You have at your disposal a katana and a pistol in the beginning, but throughout the game you have the opportunity to purchase a double-barrel shotgun, a Tommy-gun, and a pump action shotgun. All weapons are upgradeable in different ways. Also your special moves are upgradable as well. Throughout the course of the game, you will earn money in the form of coins and gold, but they all count as 'money'. You earn this money by completing missions, destroying enemies, crates, barrel, and secret tokens. You will earn alot and by the end of the game you should been able to purchase all the special moves, armor upgrades, and weapons and upgrade almost,if not all of them. The dialog is very awkward as well, even for what it is going for. It goes for that comic book tongue-and-cheek, but it just falls short on what it is trying to achieve.
The game is very much like Borderlands in the way you take missions. Most of the missions in the game come from a bulletin board. You will receive mission updates through a hand held communicator, that oddly enough also acts as a universal key to every door in the game.
The game is fairly difficult, but in a challenging way. The boss battles are few and far between, but when they occur they are pretty fun, even if short. The enemies are fairly limited as well, but with the well executed timing, it isnt noticeable until the very end  One big problem, is the story. It is very bland and only gets interesting within the last 2 hours. Also, very disappointing was the anticlimactic ending.

Final Verdict
Ubisoft has delivered on its promises and more with this great sequel. Great environment and a solid learning curve will keep you entertained for the 10+ hour campaign.
Difficulty: Slightly Challenging
Time Spent: 15 to 20  Hours
The Bottom Line: "Worth Playing"
The Good:
-Great art style
-Cut scenes are awesome
-Gameplay is smooth(for the most part)
-Plenty of moves and 'missions'

The Bad:
-Lack of different enemies
-Dialog
-Controls sometimes mess up
-Story is weak

Grade: B+

Update on the Bioshock movie...

I am Ozzdog12 and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to a film adaption of Bioshock?

'No,' says the man in Hollywood 'its not rated R.'

'No,' says the man in 2k Games, 'it doesn't follow the original story.'

'No,' says the man in Universal 'it costs to much to make.'

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...

The best thing the South has produced...

The South(Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee,Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, and West Virgina) is not my favorite place to say the least, lets get that clear. After living here the majority of my life, everyday I find a reason to like it even less, but that's besides the point. There is at least 1 awesomely awesome thing the South gives us and here it is.....
...
..
.

Sweet Tea

Sweet Tea is a glorious nectar descended from the God's of Holy beverages.

Sweet Tea isn't just a beverage, its a way of life. It such a huge part of the Southern culture that in places outside the South, store bought bottles of tea have a 'Southern-Style' label.
When it comes to Sweet Tea, the South don't play around. In 2003, Georgia State Representative, John Noel, and four co-sponsors introduced House Bill-819, proposing to require all Georgia restaurants that serve tea to serve sweet tea and only sweet tea. Representative John Noel, one of the sponsors, is said to have acknowledged that the bill was an attempt to bring humor to the Legislature, but wouldn't mind if it became law. It basically said you were to receive a misdemeanor if your did an un-justice act and served sweet tea not acceptable enough to give your body a diabetic coma. Now it was just an April Fool's joke, but you can see my point. Sweet Tea is a serious beverage and is nothing to play around with. People in the South drink Sweet Tea like the Irish drink beer.
For those curious, the simplest way to brew your own version of 'True' Sweet Tea is brew some tea and pour in lots of sugar and by 'lots', I mean enough to play Russian Roulette with diabetes

You can't pump your own gas in Oregon or New Jersey....

Yes, If you live in New Jersey or Oregon you are not allowed to pump your own gas at a gas station.
According to research, the brilliant minds of the New Jersey state legislature decided in 1949 that ..."because of the fire hazards directly associated with dispensing fuel, it is in the public interest that gasoline station operators have the control needed over that activity to ensure compliance with appropriate safety procedures.”
Uh....ok....so when your apply for a job at a gas station do have a certificate that says your awesome and you have the ability to pump gas...professionally.

Now for your curious little noggin, passed in 1951, Oregon came up with this dandy... “any person other than the owner, operator or employee (of a dispensary where class 1 flammable liquids are dispensed at retail)” from using “pump, hose, pipe or other device for dispensing the liquids into the fuel tank of a motor vehicle or other retail container.” Violating this law would get yourself slapped with a whopping $500 fine.
...$500 fine??? Give me a break.
I've shook my brain to find something similar between the two states.....Italians? Ducks?

I guess in theory its 'safer' to have someone pump your gas due to the increasingly large epidemic of idiots that plague the world today, but it just boggles my mind. I had a lady tell me on a plane ride that Oregon is like super environmental friendly....ok but what does that have to do with somebody else pumping gas? your still driving the car that pollutes the environment..Oh and get this, if your a tourist traveling through these fine states, you have to obey these laws as well...cause they said so..
...My theory.....somebody went insane and made a flamethrower out of a gas pump and just went on a rampage due to the fly that kept buzzing in his ear.
This guy doesn't live in Oregon or New Jersey..or is he pumping the other fine gentleman's gas for him?

Splinter Cell Conviction Review!

What Is It?
Take everything you know about the Splinter Cell series and discard it, insert a nifty, 'Mark and Execute' ability, mix it in with a Gears of War/Rainbow Six Vegas cover system, Assassin Creed-type movement, and a Jason Bourne influenced story and you have Splinter Cell Conviction

Review
The story of Splinter Cell Conviction is basically simple, Your Sam Fisher and you are no longer part of Third Echelon. The game takes place 3 years after Sarah Fisher( Sam's daughter) has been killed. It starts you off in a marketplace and you are contacted by 'Grim' and that serves as your basic tutorial. As the story progresses, you slowly learn more about Sarah, Grim, and Third Echelon. You also slowly receive new equipment to help you progress through levels, but it isn't until the last third of the game that you have obtained all your equipment and by that time, you really don't need it. The single player serves as a basic 'general' tutorial for the co-op. The gameplay of Conviction has been extremely overhauled from the previous entries and somewhat 'dumbed' down. That isn't to say that is a bad thing. The overhaul reminds me of what Capcom did with Resident Evil 5. It's a nice, fresh change of pace for this franchise. The 'Mark and Execute' ability is one of the best addition to the game. The game is set-up to make you earn your 'Mark and Execute'. You must first pull off an 'execution' or hand-to-hand combat to 'earn' your 'Mark and Execute' and depending on which gun you have and/or how far you have said gun upgraded, will determine how many you can 'Mark'( maximum is 4 per person). The best part of the game is the 'Co-op.' There are several options:
  • Hunter - Clear the map of enemies
  • Co-op Story- A Prequel Campaign to Convictions Single Player
  • Infiltration - Same as Hunter, but with the condition that detection by enemies automatically results in a mission failure. Must download from UPLAY
  • Last Stand - Protect an EMP warhead from waves of advancing foes
  • Face Off - The sole adversarial mode, with two players going head-to-head with a customizable number of A.I. opponents populating the map.
You will likely spend the majority of your time running through these modes with a buddy. As previously mentioned, you will be able to upgrade weapons as well as outfits. Within the game there is 3 tiers of Challenges that upon completion reward you with points to upgrade. You are also now able to Interrogate enemies to get information throughout missions. While cool in theory, the results are a let-down and it gets old fairly quick. Also new is your objectives are now appear on the wall, buildings, floor, etc in the real-world. It is a very neat and convenient way to inform the player(s) of their objective without interrupting the gameplay.

Final Verdict
A fun, yet short single player Campaign and great Co-op make this a must play(rent or buy). It has it's shortcomings and may disappoint fans of the previous entries, but I think with the new overhaul, it is a great foundation for the next installment and definitely worth a run through.
Difficulty: Just Right
Time Spent: 30 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line: "Worth Playing"
The Good:
-'Mark and Execute' is ridiculously awesome
-Co-op
-New Gameplay mechanics are smooth
-More action

The Bad:
-'Mark and Execute' make it too easy, even on Realistic
-Voice overs sound a bit off a times
-Interrogations are a failed opportunity
-Classic Splinter Cell gameplay is gone
-Super Short Campaign

Grade: B+

The 'Asshole' Dilemma..

The ‘Asshole’ Dilemma
It has recently (not so recently) come to my attention that the hetero human females are extremely attracted to ‘the asshole’. Now you may say “Good Sir, how do I spot this ‘asshole’ in the wild?” Well luckily for you I have come up with a handy definition or two: “Someone being arrogant, rude, obnoxious, or just a total dickhead and/or 90% of every dude you will ever speak to.” Now for that sake of this discussion, “An obnoxious, arrogant, self-centered douche bag male who women can't seem to get enough of”

Now the following is a short, very short list of way to spot an asshole (There are PLENTY more)
  • If your boyfriend has more ex-girlfriends than you do pairs of shoes, he is probably an asshole.
  • If you are on a first date, and he makes you pay because ‘he forgot his wallet’, he is probably an asshole.
  • If the guy your dating has more muscles, than brains, he is probably an asshole.
  • If your boyfriend has a fancy sports car (and revs it unnecessarily) and parks sideways in a handicap space, he is probably an asshole.
  • If your boyfriend asks you to go to the movies and shows up late with another person in the car and makes you sit in the back, he is probably an asshole.
  • If the guy you’re with hits on your sister, cousin, and/or you mother at the family picnic and then proceeds to question your mother's sexual past, he is probably an asshole.
  • If you are eating at a fine dining restaurant such as Fazoli’s and your boyfriend goes and get a stack of ‘FREE’ breadsticks and doesn’t give the table any, he’s probably an asshole.
  • Bonus: You and a guy are supposed to go out on a date and the night of the date you can’t get a hold of him. Three days pass and he magically shows up and tries to explain he tried to get a hold of you, but couldn’t and tries to tell you how sad he is that he didn’t get to see you. Only to find out he was sleeping with another girl the night of your date, he IS an asshole.
It seems as a common problem that girls find these guys irresistible and think the world of these guys. Maybe it’s the fact that they are the centerpiece for conversation at social gatherings. Maybe it’s the fact that these guys are considered the common norm of what a guy is suppose to be like or maybe it’s just the fact that there is a minor malfunction in the female DNA that affects their decision making when it comes to deciding on boyfriends. I don’t know.  I understand that girls want a ‘tough’ guy and want that sense of protection, but does that mean you should have to sacrifice respect and ultimately happiness?  I hear girls complaining all the time about how every guy they date is an asshole or how he treated her like crap, yet the next boyfriend they date is the same make, different model. So until girls start changing what they are looking for, don’t expect a different outcome…

And that my friends, is today's Bacon and Eggs.....

5 shockingly evil things about Zach Broyles

Hello!

 This is Zach Broyles...
He was born and raised in Sparta,TN in 1984...
Same year as Mandy Moore and Avril Lavigne...interesting considering Zach likes to consider himself a 'musician',but we all know how that goes.

Anyway, Here's a rundown of 5 shockingly evil things about Zach Broyles you need to know.

1. Zach can smell money in your pocket from a block away. Once that delicious aroma reaches his nostrils, he'll start talking about the joy of Marxism and how he knows the "right" way to read Plato, Maimonides, and Machiavelli. As you listen to Zach's sing-song, chances are you won't even notice his hand as it goes into your pocket. He is a master thief that has trained in the 'Dojo of the Damned'.

2. Zach Broyles wants nothing less than to insult the intelligence, interests, and life plans of whole groups of people. One is possibly safe from his insults, only if by initiation, Zach manages to lure you into his deceitful entourage.

3.Zach has this idea that there is no such thing as an accident.... He consistently rants to his inferiors that he is innocent and that it happened for a reason.

4.Zach has a talent for inventing fantasy worlds in which we ought to worship unambitious madmen as folk heroes.

5. Zach feeds on the young especially the blonde and braced. You may have noticed his brief relationship with the 18 year old Maxi Recthorn recently...She was blonde and she had braces. His current 'girlfriend'( I use that term loosely) the lovely, yet extremely exotic Brittany Theopold...is 19,blonde,and has braces.

Please remember that my ultimate goal is to spread the word about Zach Broyles's recalcitrant, inane harangues to our friends, our neighbors, our relatives, our co-workers—even to strangers. If I advance, follow me. If I stop, urge me on. If I retreat, kill me.

Shutter Island Review!

What is it?
Shutter Island is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels(Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule(Mark Ruffalo) who are summoned to a remote island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane

Thoughts?

Who is 67? Is what I'm seeing even real? What is going on? These are the questions you will be asking yourself through-out the movie and even at the end of the movie I went into this movie expecting a simple, yet well directed thriller with a predictable storyline. I came out picking my brains up off the floor.  Ask yourself this question, when was the last time you watch a movie and the credits roll and you ask yourself "wtf just happened?" It has nothing to do with the storyline being confusing or poor acting or anything of the negative terms, its the fact that Scorsese rightfully guides you on this journey and throws you around all over this island and ends with your ideas lying on the floor next to your brain. Even after the last words are spoken by DiCaprio, you honestly have no idea what to believe...And honestly that didn't bother me. The ending will be a love/hate it type of moment and may drag on too long for some peoples taste.

Final Verdict
Very rarely have I ever talked or though about a movie hours after I watched it. Get your popcorn ready as Scorsese does it again with the tense, gorgeous, and dark roller coaster ride of madness that will literally keep you on the edge of your seat.

-Key points-
  • Martin Scorsese sets the mood for this thriller early in the film.
  • DiCaprio nails his roll(as usual) with such emotion and such a haunting personality.
  • A great cast to support DiCaprio like Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, and Michelle Williams help make this movie believable.
Grade: A+

Heavy Rain Review!

What is it?
Hands down one of the most engaging and immersible games ever created. Heavy Rain is considered to be an 'interactive drama' and while it is considered a 'game', it is much more than that, It's an interactive experience like no other.

Review
Norman Jayden, Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, and Scott Shelby. These are 'your characters'. You will see the story through their eyes. You become so connected with these characters that you start to questions every move morally. The main story revolves around the 'Origami Killer' and trying to stop him/her and find out who he/she is. While the main story is a set story, the results within each chapter will/may vary with each individual play through.
The music makes this game. It brings you deep into the game. The atmosphere is insanely incredible. There is certain parts of the game that you can literally feel your heart beating. Never in my gaming have I ever cared so much about the characters I was playing with. Heavy Rain hits you on every emotion and it hits hard.
The unique control system works very well for the most part and is structured as to keep you one your toes at all times. There are certain points I encountered when the camera or controls were a tad bit frustrating, but nothing too unreasonable that it took away from the experience.

Final Verdict
In closing, Heavy Rain is an incredibly original and compelling story. It is an milestone release that merges gaming and movies into one. The game ends leaving you craving for more and rightfully so. I have never been more entranced in a game than I have with Heavy Rain and never have I had the experience I had with Heavy Rain. This is a game that needs to be experienced

And the winners are...

Last night as you know was the 82nd Academy Awards hosted by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. I think Steve and Alec did a god job last night and at times were actually pretty funny.
Anyways, While I was surprised on few of the winners,I was also expecting most of the awards to go to The Hurt Locker...and I was right.
A couple things I got out of last night.
1. Quentin Tarantino STILL doesnt get the respect he deserves for his creative brilliance. He should have gotten best original screenplay.
2.Im glad Jeff Bridges FINNALLY got an Oscar
3. Surprised Meryl Streep didnt win and Sandra Bullock did
4. Im happy that The Hurt Locker got best picture. I've seen 8 out of the 10 noms and I think The Hurt Locker( and I saw back in June of last year) was the best 'all around' movie
